The 22nd Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival

 

Have you ever heard about running alongside the beautiful beach in Korea.?

Let me introduce you, the most popular marathon in Korea and Jeju Island specifically:-

Jeju Island is a volcanic island, which has been declared a natural heritage by UNESCO. The very special geography of Jeju Island consists of mountains (1950 m), volcanic cones (200 – 500 m) and coast area. Running through this beautiful scenery and exploring the nature will be a great experience.

2016 Jeju Geo Festival

 

 

In 2010 Jeju Island became a member of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN), a first for Korea.

Nine initial sites were recognized by the GGN as having significant geological and educational value, including Yongmeori Coast, Sanbangsan Mountain and Gimnyeong’s Manjanggul Lava Tube System.

Four years later, another three sites were added, including a section of Gotjawal Forest, Udo Island and Biyangdo Island.

The idea behind the Geo Trail system and the annual Geo Festival is to celebrate the local culture and foods of the regions which boast these internationally recognized Geo Heritage sites.

Schedule:

For the Saturday event in the southwest at Sanbangsan, there are two main walking courses (Course A starts at Yongmeori Coast parking lot and is 13.7 km, est. walking time 3 hours 30 minutes. Course B starts at Hwasun Black Sand Beach. There is a also stamp tour with guide, reserve by calling 064-740-6071) and two shorter courses.

On Sunday at Gimnyeong along the north coast, the main course is 14.6 km (est. walking time 5 hours, with a stamp tour with guide, reserve by calling 064-740-6071) and one shorter course.

Date/Time: Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 (9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

2017 Jeju Winter Festival 

 

Winter is moving in and it won’t be long before Hallasan is topped with a crown of snow.

That doesn’t mean you have to retreat indoors and hibernate until spring, however, as there are still numerous outdoor activities to keep you warm throughout the colder months.

If the cold is a problem, then warm yourself up with the plentiful sledding, horse riding, walking and hiking.

Every year up at Eorimok Squarem, Jeju Tourism Organization organizes a winter extravaganza with winter sports and Korean culture “experiences”.

Bangeo Festival

 

This popular festival is held every year in November at Moseulpo Port, the southernmost region of Jeju-do Island. It celebrates the “Bangeo Fish (yellowtail)”, which is largely caught in this area. The meat of “Bangeo Fish (yellowtail)” is chewy and tender, and so it is very popular served raw. It is also used in a variety of other dishes. Visitors can enjoy fresh bangeo at the festival and then pack some up to take home.

Don’t forget to admire the beautiful natural sceneries near the festival grounds and explore some of the many popular tourist attractions in Jeju.

A ritual to wish for a big catch, fireworks, singing competition,etc.

– Hands-on programs:
Catching bangeo fish (yellowtail) with bare hands, tuho (a game where players throw sticks into a canister), magic and bubble magic show, etc.

Specialty products market, local specialty restaurants, souvenir shops, etc.

– Additional events:
Cooking with bangeo fish (yellowtail), bangeo raw fish sampling, face painting, photo zone, raw fish take-out center, drawing contest, etc.

M COUNTDOWN

M COUNTDOWN, the world’s No.1 K-pop chart show will hold a special stage in Jeju Island in October.

On October 27, CJ E&M and the Jeju Tourism Organization will be holding M COUNTDOWN in Jeju at the Jeju Stadium.

M COUNTDOWN in Jeju which will be held in collaboration with the Jeju Tourism Organization will include Korea’s top artists. Fans are looking forward to see top K-pop start leading the hallyu scene perform at the beautiful island.

M COUNTDOWN in Jeju will be aired in a total of 13 countries through Mnet Japan, tvN Asia and more and can be viewed from anywhere in the world through Mwave.

Meanwhile, details on M COUNTDOWN in Jeju’s impressive lineup will be revealed in October.

KOR|EAT Food Festival

Try delicate cuisine from top 50 restaurants of Korea. Chefs from top 50 restaurants will cook and serve their dishes from their own food trucks. Chefs will perform Live Show where you can learn their special recipes. You can also buy fresh Jeju ingredients from ‘Jeju Farmer’s Market’.

Jeju International Cycling Festival

 

You’ll be able to cycle along the beautiful coast line of WolJeong and Sehwa. 80km course for professionals and 30km course for amateurs will be available. You can bring your own bike or rent one on site. Roads will be closed for safety.

The Jeongwol Daeboreum Field-Burning Festival, also known as the Jeju Fire Festival is one of the major representing festivals in Jeju. With the purpose of praying for a better year, the festival also means “spring in the air” and thus marks the celebration of the arrival of spring. The main event would be the Oreum burning which will be on 5 March 2016. Several exciting activities can also be enjoyed throughout the festivals in addition to the field burning.

Jeju Olle Walking Festival 2016

The Jeju Olle Walking Festival is coming back this year! It will unfolds along the scenic roads of Jeju Island, the most popular vacation destination in all of Korea.

The Jeju Olle Walking Festival enables participants to meet both local residents and travelers on the trail from different backgrounds while slowly walking along the Jeju Island. Besides the engagement with people on the trail, participants may enjoy various performances, art, and local foods while hiking the trail during the festival.

As you walk along the course you’ll be treated to an intimate look at the beauty of Jeju: numerous Oreums (‘small volcanic mountains’ in Jeju dialetic), expensive coasts, and stone walls full of character. Jeju Mandarin International Marathon Race 2016

Jeju Mandarin International Marathon 2016 is hosting it’s 14th edition this year. The reason this marathon is using the word “Mandarin” is very obvious because Jeju Island is the represent it’s famous sweet mandarin oranges !
