Jeollanam-do is a province in the southwest of South Korea that was formed in 1896 from the southern half of the former Jeolla province, remained a province of Korea until the country’s division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. Gwangju was the capital of the province until the provincial office moved to the southern village of Namak, Muan County in 2005.
Jeollanam-do, Situated in the southwestern corner of South Korea, Jeollanam-do is the country’s greenest and least developed province. Blanketed in rolling hills and towering mountains, and bordered by a coastline of thousands of charming islands, the area is famous for its gorgeous landscape, fresh seafood, and traditional festivals. The well-developed cities such as Yeosu and Suncheon and beautiful counties such as Jindo and Boseong has attracted many tourists to discover the beauty of Jeollanam-do
