The Korean term for the phenomenon of the Korean Wave is Hallyu. The term is made of two root words; han (한/韓) meaning “Korean”, and ryu (류/流) meaning “flow” or “wave”, and referring to the diffusion of Korean culture.
This term is sometimes applied differently outside of Korea; for example, overseas, Hallyu drama refers to Korean drama in general, but in Korea, Hallyu drama and Korean drama are taken to mean slightly different things. According to researcher Jeongmee Kim, the term Hallyu refers only to dramas that have gained success overseas, or feature actors that are internationally recognised.
The focus of this seminar will be on interesting places of korean dramas shooting location and korean music videos location around Korea. So you can visit these places for your next trip to Korea!
Highlighted Korean Drama
Hotel Del Luna
Hotel del Luna (formally referred to as the “Guest House of the Moon”), located in Myeong-dong, Seoul, is not like any other hotel: its clients are all ghosts, and it is not visible in its true form during the day. Humans can only come across the hotel under special circumstances, for example, during a Lunar eclipse.
Jang Man-wol is the CEO of the hotel. Due to a huge sin many years ago, she has been stuck at the hotel for over the past millennium. She meets Koo Chan-sung, an assistant manager at a multinational hotel corporation. He is a sincere perfectionist and looks level-headed, but he actually has a soft heart.
Mr. Sunshine centres on a young boy who is born into slavery but escapes to the United States after a traumatic event. He becomes a United States Marine Corps officer and returns to Joseon during the 1871 Shinmiyangyo (U.S. expedition to Korea). While in Joseon, he meets and falls in love with an aristocrat’s daughter, who is part of the Righteous Army. At the same time, he discovers a plot by foreign forces to colonize Korea and soon, he becomes embroiled in the fight for Joseon’s independence.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim
