16th Jeonju International Sori Festival

They said that the finest work of Pansori can make your heart stop beating. Pansori is a traditional South Korean form of musical storytelling, focusing on the authenticity, intensity, and power of a singer’s voice to tell stories of love, death, tradition, and honor.

The Jeonju International Sori Festival is a global music festival that showcases various Korean traditional music including Pansori. It has been chosen by the British World Music Magazine Songlines as one of The World Best 25 Music Festival. The festival covers a wide array of performances, from fringe music performances to master performances by some of the world’s most recognizable voices. Idols from the Gugak industry and several big stars from the K-pop industry will be performing together at the opening ceremony. For the closing ceremony, the highlights will be the harmony that crosses over all generations and genres such as Pansori, beatbox, hip-hop and so on.
