Customs Laws & Regulations

The customs authorities of Korea enforce laws and regulations about importing and exporting goods. If you are traveling to Korea, or even just transition, be sure to visit the Korea Customs Services’ website to check for restrictions. All currency or negotiable checks exceeding U$10,000 must be declared. If you depart Korea with expensive items (i.e. computers, golf clubs, cameras, etc.) and intend to bring them back, they must be declared. Goods under U$400 need not be declared. Alcoholic beverages are limited to one bottle (not to exceed 1 liter, and under $600), cigarettes are limited to 200 (50 cigars or 250g of tobacco), and perfumes are limited to two ounces (60ml). If traveling with animals or plants, or have any further inquiries, contact the Korea Customs Services.
