Gyeongju Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond

Gyeongju Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond was the palace of the Crown Prince and it also served as the banquet room for important national events and important visitors. After unifying the Three Kingdoms, Silla dug a large pond in the 14th year of King Munmu (674). In the middle of the pond, three islands were made and the mountain of 12 peaks was made at the northeastern side of the pond, and it is said that in this place, there were beautiful flowers and trees and rare birds and animals.

Bomunho Lake

Bomunho Lake is a man-made lake that built on the site of an old fortress in Mount Myeonghwalsan, the east of Gyeongju. There are many leisure facilities and parks around the lake, including an international hotel and Gyeongju World. When spring arrives, the combination of the cherry blossom trees reflected in the waters of Bomunho Lake and the trees of Bulguksa Park gracefully adorning the nearby temple make for particularly stunning sights.
