Some of Korea’s biggest hallyu stars got together to film a short drama to help spur tourism in the Asian country. Called “Haru: An Unforgettable Day in Korea,” the drama stars TVXQ’s Yunho, actors Kim Bum and Park Si-hoo, actresses Lee Da-hae and Han Chae-young, and boy band Big Bang. A project of the Korea Tourism Organization, the short film can be viewed on the interactive website www.haru2010.com, where netizens can also create their own travel guide by finding tags in the drama. “The drama was designed to give tourists a chance to see the true beauty of Korea through the eyes of different characters (played by the hallyu stars),” according to the website.

Korea has designated 2010 to 2012 as “Visit Korea Year”. The official lauch ceremony was held in Cheonggye Stream in downtown Seoul on 11 November 2009. More than 2000 participants attended the ceremony including the first lady Kim Yoon-ok, the honarary chariwoman of Visit Korea Year Committee; Yu In-chon, minster of culture, tourism and sports; and Lotte Group’s Vice Chairman Shin Dong-byn, 2010-2012 Visit Korea Committee chairman.
