Menu 1: Stuffed Rice Cake ( Ddeok Jjim '떡찜')


Legend has it that Ddeokjjim was created by a royal chef as a way for the king to eat beef without burdening his digestion. (Many kings suffered from indigestion apparently due to lack of exercise) Whether this really was food of the kings or not, it is a tasty treat.


 Menu 2: Burdock Pancake (Uwong Jeon '우엉전')


The Korean word "jeon" is often translated as "pancake," but jeon are not just a breakfast food, they're eaten at all meals as side dishes, or as snacks. At their simplest they're food coated in flour and egg and then pan-fried with a bit of oil. Some incorporate vegetables, meat, and fish into a batter which is pan-fried with a bit of oil.

Korean Cooking Class is offered FREE of charge by Korea Tourism Organization (KTO). It will be conducted in English by an experienced Korean chef, Madam Shin (Shin Sonsengnim).
